Olivia Drinkwater was put on the family Shetland pony before she could walk. She learnt to ride on him before moving on to the family’s Welsh Mountain pony and then progressing to their Highland X Welsh. By the age of 9, she was pretty sure she wanted to work with horses when she grew up and it wasn’t long before she ‘borrowed’ her Mum’s Arab X mare. In 2001, her family took on Zebedee – a yearling Appaloosa X who Olivia helped to break in and school – then nursed him through Equine Grass Sickness in 2007. She is devoted to him and rides him most – but still finds time for the others.
Olivia has worked in the equine industry for 10 years and has experience of many different yards and specialities. She has competed in show jumping, showing and working hunter at local and county level. She successfully completed a HNC and HND in Equine Studies whilst living in the far north of Scotland. Before and during this period, she passed many of her BHS and BET exams and, having achieved BHSAI status as well as becoming a Riding and Road Safety Trainer, she looks forward to progressing further.
Olivia enjoys working differently with clients using the EAGALA model, which uses the relationship with horses, to help people overcome difficulties in their lives. Olivia and Coral met through their love of horses and have developed a successful partnership combining equine expertise with psychotherapy.
